This is the last Lilygun Blog post for this year, and what an extraordinary year it has been for us! We took our time recording our second album because we wanted to create something special. From the songs, to the packaging, to the first two music videos, we made an effort to make sure everything was a true, authentic representation of what Lilygun has become.
This has been one of the best years we've ever had. The love and support shown by our friends and fans has been nothing short of amazing. Whilst our old fans have remained loyal, this year, we have reached the eyes and ears of a whole new fan-base which meant copies of both our albums have sold like hot potatoes!
Lilygun was once hailed as the next big British rock band and although we’ve won the hearts of critics and fans around the world, the music industry wants bands they know how to market. I was told my image isn’t appealing and my attitude is wrong, just because I'm different and unafraid to be so. I now know, that many would beg to differ!
From the beginning, I had a vision and I'm very proud of the fact that I didn’t conform to anyone else's expectations or opinions or let the many previous band members of Lilygun ruin my spirit. I've built Lilygun's world on my terms and no one tells me what to do! Lilygun was once a band of hell for me but now, I’m doing what I love with the best, kindest musicians I’ve ever met, who just so happen to be my dearest friends.
I am here for the outcasts, the rejects, the weirdos, the beautiful freaks and the people who feel they don't fit in. I am here to tell you, love being who you are and don't change for anyone because you are amazing just as you are! To other bands out there, be careful when people tell you their opinions because "they" are not always right and those same people will come back years later and tell you, they were wrong.
Dare to be different!
When this album first came out, it sold out so quickly, we didn't have time to show you how special the packaging was and to tell you there's a hidden booklet inside! We didn't want to mass produce CDs because we wanted to give our fans something which they knew was unique. The first edition of this album is gone. This second series is also a limited edition. We kept the design the same but we switched the covers around so this time, the black side is now the cover and it has a black spine. I've absolutely loved every moment I have had with Lilygun this year and I can't wait to see what else unfolds for us next year. Thank you all very much for your love and support. It means a great deal to me.
